Rambo - Movie Review
Entertainment Weekly: Baby-stabbing, decapitation, gang rape, and rivers of blood: Rambo is up to its boot tops in numbing violence.
IGN: Stallone's latest combines the best and worst of the franchise's history.
New York Times: Mr. Stallone is smart enough to present the mythic dimensions of the character without apology or irony. His face looks like a misshapen chunk of granite, and his acting is only slightly more expressive, but the man gets the job done.
Rotten Tomatoes: The excessive violence is more nauseating than entertaining.
The Hollywood Reporter: Maybe they should have left sleeping dogs of war lie!
USA Today: Stallone wears one expression throughout the 90-plus-minute orgy of explosions, severed limbs and spewing blood. The best that can be said about Rambo is that it makes last year's Rocky redux look like Oscar material!
Variety: Although Stallone plays it completely straight, the mere idea of the aging action star strapping on the bandana again is risible enough to let the movie play like a comedy too, albeit one with an unusually high body count.
Washington Post: Rambo follows the action movie's time-honored tradition of having it both ways - ratcheting up our moral outrage at the oppressors of this world so we can enjoy the spectacle of turning them into mincemeat.
